If you’re newly certified as a therapist, looking to bolster your EMDR skills, or in search of an EMDRIA-approved consultant who specializes in sexual trauma, we offer multiple consulting options through EMDR Therapy Solutions. If You’re A Clinician Who Specializes In Sexual Trauma, EMDR Consulting Can Help You Become More Effective In Your Practice
EMDR consulting is not just valuable for learning a specific modality—EMDR is increasingly becoming the gold standard of trauma-informed mental health treatment. If you’re a sexologist, sex therapist, or other clinician who works with individuals who have been sexually traumatized, you may be wondering if there are more effective ways to facilitate healing among your clients while reducing the risk of re-traumatization.
Fortunately, our practice founder Kelly Chisholm is a certified sexologist and EMDRIA-approved consultant who can help you enrich your practice. From therapists who are just starting out to those looking to bolster their trauma skills—particularly in the area of sexual abuse—consulting through EMDR Therapy Solutions is a great opportunity to receive tailored and effective career guidance.
The Consultation Process
If you have questions or concerns about your ability to facilitate EMDR in treatment, you may not feel fully safe or comfortable addressing your worries in an instructional group setting. Our EMDR consulting sessions are a nonjudgmental, open opportunity to explore both successful and challenging cases so that you can hone your EMDR technique.
I offer both group and individual consultation sessions and will tailor the process to meet your needs. We can schedule sessions within a specified timeframe or using consultation packages, and I am available for virtual sessions for clinicians outside of Albuquerque.
No matter what, I will design this experience to solidify your working knowledge of EMDR, strengthen specific skill sets, and offer guidance on the unique populations you serve. And if you’re interested in bolstering your EMDR skills for sexual trauma survivors in particular, I will ensure that consultation borrows directly from my expertise as a certified sexologist.
With deeper insight into your skills and challenges, you will be able to integrate EMDR into your practice with confidence. The empowerment provided to you by a consultant can help you make decisions about your career, witness the power of EMDR firsthand among your clients, and pave the way towards EMDRIA-approved certification if you so choose.
Meet Kelly Chisholm, MS, LPC, NCC, BCC, CST, CCTP, And EMDRIA-Approved Consultant
I’ve worked as a mental health clinician for years and have come across several therapists who received basic training in EMDR but never got a chance to sufficiently use the modality. As a result, these clinicians become ineffective with their skills, unable to see how impactful EMDR can be on the lives of their clients.
Not to mention, it can be intimidating as a mental health professional to need help and guidance—after all, we are the ones who are supposed to have the solutions and knowledge on how certain treatments are supposed to work. Refining skills as an EMDR clinician can be an anxiety-inducing prospect, especially if we feel like we’re competing with others for mastery and approval.
Consulting through EMDR Therapy Solutions offers a customized approach to training and mentorship. I will make the consulting process fun, informative, and engaging in a way that makes you excited to use EMDR with your clients.
